The Episcopal Schools Day Celebration on October 4, hosted by Beauvoir School at Washington National Cathedral,  included over 500 children with their teachers, administrators, and parents from 12 different member schools with service bulletin artwork provided by one student, with two choirs and two readers of Holy Scripture, and clergy/chaplains all representing different schools.  The procession included magnificent banners from every school in attendance. The Rev. Timothy P. Carr of Christ Episcopal Parish, Rockville, was the officiant and The Rev. Anna Broadbent-Evelyn of Grace Episcopal School, Kensington, gave the homily on the theme selected by NAES: “Run the Race with Perservances.”  Many school groups stayed to tour the Cathedral and enjoy lunch on the grounds.  It was a truly wonderful morning!

The Early Childhood Conference on November 3 was another terrific success.  The conference was graciously hosted by Jalene Spain Thomas and St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School.  There were 144 participants from 12 member schools and 1 non-member schools, with Marianela S. Rodousakis, LCSW-C as the Keynote Speaker, discussing how teachers and staff can be a ‘secure base and safe haven’ for our students while learning.  Fourteen different workshops were offered through the day that covered phonics, art, digital learning, morning meetings, using Godly Play and much more.   Presenters came from member schools and the community at large and were all remarkably well-prepared and professional.  A magnificent lunch brought everyone together and the entire day was productive, creative and collegial.
